The only reference to classical music in Cusp relates to a Vladimir Horowitz concert at Carnegie Hall attended by Karen and her mother.
"It was like we had a time-out from who we really
are. Sure, we ate dinner at a hot dog stand and sat in five-dollar seats in the
nosebleed section, but it still felt special. I’m not a big classical music
buff, but you’d have to be deaf or unconscious not to realize there’s something
other-worldly about Vladimir Horowitz."
In the link, Horowitz plays Rachmaninoff's Prelude in G, Op. 32 No. 5, a piece played at his November 16, 1975 Carnegie Hall concert. The recording dates to 1986, just three years before his death at age 86.
